What is the Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim?
The Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim is a sacred, first-temple-period, Israelite text, written by a prophetic family from the tribe of Joseph who fled Jerusalem in 601 BCE, prior to the Babylonian destruction. YHWH led them for years in the wilderness and finally brought them “over the wall” to the American continent, in fulfillment of Jacob’s final blessing to Joseph (Gen. 49:22).

What Message is God Sending us from our Ancient Fathers?
And it shall come to pass that my people which are of the house of Isra’el shall be gathered home unto the lands of their possessions, and my word also shall be gathered in one. And I will show unto them that fight against my word, and against my people who are of the house of Isra’el, that I am Elohim, and that I covenanted with Avraham that I would remember his seed for ever.
—2 Nefi 12:10
I say, if you should serve him with all your whole soul, yet you would be unprofitable servants. And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his mitzvot. And he has promised you that if you would keep his mitzvot, you should prosper in the land. And he never does vary from that which he has said. Therefore, if you do keep his mitzvot, he does bless you and prosper you.
—Moshiyah 1:8
For after the book of which I have spoken shall come forth, and be written unto the Goyim, and sealed up again unto YHWH, there shall be many which shall believe the words which are written, and they shall carry them forth unto the remnant of our seed. And then shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Yerushalayim, and that they are descendants of the Y’hudim.
—2 Nefi 12:12
…For he is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever. And the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him. For he that diligently seeks shall find, and the mysteries of Elohim shall be unfolded to them by the power of the Ruach HaKodesh, as well in this time as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of YHWH is one eternal round.
—1 Nefi 3:5
Believe in Elohim. Believe that he is, and that he created all things both in Heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom and all power both in Heaven and in earth; believe that man does not comprehend all the things which YHWH can comprehend. And again, believe that you must repent of your sins, and abandon them, and humble yourselves before Elohim, and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you. And now if you believe all these things, see that you do them.
—Moshiyah 2:3
And he leads away the righteous into precious lands, and the wicked he destroys, and curses the land unto them for their sakes. He rules high in the Heavens, for it is his throne, and this earth is his footstool. And he loves them who will have him to be their Elohim. Behold, he loved our fathers; and he covenanted with them, yes, even Avraham, and Yitz’chak, and Ya’akov, and he remembered the covenants which he had made; wherefore, he did bring them out of the land of Egypt.
—1 Nefi 5:20

The fact that the Stick of Joseph contains language and concepts similar to those found in the New Testament is not the smoking gun critics think it is. The original Gospel of the Messiah was taught and recorded in biblical lands, and similarly taught and recorded in the Stick of Joseph lands in the Western Hemisphere. The ideas come from the same divine source, and the potentially oldest versions of Biblical manuscripts support the assertion that the Stick of Joseph is authentic, ancient and divine.
The very first chapter of the Stick of Joseph presents us with Lechi offering a sacrifice in the wilderness: And it came to pass that…
On several occasions the Stick of Joseph refers to “unfolding” information, often in terms of revealing “the mysteries of Elohim”. The Bible, by contrast, never refers to “unfolding” the mysteries of Elohim. One is left to wonder where this term came from and how it applies to divine learning.
